The Wine
A legend of the region and affectionately known as the Pope of Arbois, Jacques has been making wine here from the age of 17 on his father's vineyards, whilst simultaneously employed as a “saleur de Comté” helping to make the fabled cheese of his region.
Over time the Puffeney family acquired vineyards in Montigny and the surrounding villages and now the domaine encompasses 7.5 hectares, all in the appellation of Arbois. Jacques Puffeney’s prowess in both the vineyards and the cave has been recognized throughout France and beyond and his wines became some of the most sought-after from the region.
Back in 2014 Jacques sold all of his plots to Domaine du Pelican, but has continued making small amounts of Trousseau up until 2017, meaning it's now even rarer than when he was still winemaking in full swing.
Very little colour intensity but wonderful, heady aromas. Strawberry, cherry, mulberry and blackcurrant are all entwined. On the palate, the texture has great finesse and elegance of touch. This is an infinitely delicate Trousseau, resting on beautiful, long and juicy tannins
